July's Vacation

This year's vacation was long and good. We checked off Yosemite from my bucket list, and we got to go and see many other cool things. So here we go!

We started in Virginia City. Old Nevada town that used to be rich for gold and silver. We toured a mine and loved it. It was cool how the street had the old western feel to it still. We saw a play with a cowboy shoot out too. The kids liked that.

Then we headed to Bass Lake and Yosemite. We learned Em gets car sick like MJ and I. We found more sea bands for her. Luckily she only get sick once. Those roads are really twisty and windy. We saw so many cool things! The first day we saw a bear cub, and the famous Sequoia that people used to drive through. So after that it was all bonus for me. We did loose dads hat in a river. The Em was wearing it and the force of the water fall took it right off her head and into the river. We learned Em's hiking limit is 4 miles. Pretty good. But after that she was not having any more walking. We traded carrying her and sometimes just listened to her complain as she walked. Overall though, the kids did GREAT with how many hikes we went on. Many were 2 miles long. Just one 5 mile hike that just about broke us. But we made it to the end and loved the sights up on the mountain.

Our next stop was to Solvang, CA. It is a little dutch town where you can buy Dutch pastries. We loved the pastries. So yummy! We walked the town, went to church and heard a mission president and his wife speak wonderful talks, and we went to Santa Barbra beached. The first beach was perfect. The second beach had oil on it that we had to scrub off our feet once we got back. But that was a fun experience too that made the trip very memorable.

Next, to break up the drive home we stopped in Vegas. We really do love this place!

We had a great vacation and many memories were made! Til the next one!
