Blogging about Blogging

I am very excited to be blogging about blogging. Let me explain. I have wanted to put my blog into a book for quit some time now and found out from a friend how she does it. On www.blurb.com you can download your blog and they will put it into a book format with the pictures. They have different sizes and types of bound books. Then depending on how many pages you have the cost will vary. The two books I got were only $20 each. I had to copy and paste posts so there was more than one on a page but it only took me about an hour for each book to get the page layouts how I wanted.





Now I have a hard copy of my blog and a journal of sorts too. I did each book for a complete year and I'm looking forward to doing another at the end of this year.

I had to add this picture. After bath time my girls like to hide. Hmm I wonder where they are at. Then they jump out and yell boo. It's too cute since they do it EVERY time. Poor Lil in this picture just couldn't quit get her head covered. Hehe.

Summer

One of our favorite summer activities is to play Frisbee golf. The girls will walk the course and throw their own Frisbees while we play. Then they get to play at the park for awhile before we go and get Slurpee's at 7-11. Poor Lil will get so tired that she will just sit and plop down wherever she is at. Then she'll wait until we come and get her, and laugh the whole way back. MJ is getting really good at throwing the Frisbee far. However, she's not accurate and there is no safe zone to stand while she throws. That Frisbee can go in any direction. The course we go on made some improvements with cemented starting points. It's a lot nicer now.







The girls are visiting their cousin for the first half of this week and then their cousin is coming here for the last half of the week. RB and I have enjoyed our time together. On Sunday we visited RB's family and had a delicious dinner. On Monday we went out to lunch, RB got a TB shot for school, and we went to the movies. Yesterday we went mountain biking for the first time in at least 6 years. It was a blast! More tiring than riding on the road but definitely worth the effort. Jamba juice afterwards was a great idea too.





So today we plan on mowing the lawn and putting away laundry before picking up the kids. The next few days will definitely not be as quiet! Have a great day!

Lagoon

The day before coming home we got a phone call from a friend inviting us to Lagoon. He was able to get $10 tickets and so all were able to get in for the price of one. What a deal! We left the grandparents home and headed straight for Lagoon. Then we stayed there till 9pm and finally headed home. What a day. We played at Lagoon-a-beach first and had a blast. Then we went on rides. MJ did so good this year. She was excited to ride the kid rides and Lil just followed along. Lil liked almost all the rides. MJ went on the Tidal Wave with RB. She did not like that at all and was almost hyperventilating.




The bumper cars was so funny. Lil was pretty tired at this point and didn't want to ride. MJ found herself in a corner that she couldn't get out of. We were telling her to turn the wheel and she did. She went in many circles because she wouldn't straighten the wheel out. She still had fun though so that is all that matters.


Everyone loves the cars.



The ride that was the biggest hit was the octopus ride where you ride in fish cars. You steer up or down and they have sharks, and dolphins shooting water at you. What a hoot! The train ride had been closed all day. Right before leaving the park they opened it again. So we went on one last ride before calling it a night. It was a good day and thanks for the invite. Now it is good to be home catching up on everything!

The Grandparents Home

My family has a ton of b-days in June and July. My sister decided to have one big birthday party for the grand kids. She made a three tiered cake. The bottom has army dudes, the middle layer is grass with horses, frogs, and outdoor animals, and the top layer is a princess cake. After cake the kids got to open presents from grandma and pa. RB and I brought the last b-day present from us for them to open. However, they didn't make it to the party. The first night we got there, Lil follows RB down to the bedroom and asks, "Can I open my seeping bag now." How can you say no to that. MJ would make comments like, "I hope I get a sleeping bag for my b-day." I guess I'm not that good at hiding gifts.




One of the gifts my girls got was an Uno animal game. Of course the adults had to play it first and you can see by the look on my brothers face it was quit hard. Good thing the kids caught on. hehe.


We had a great time playing in the water park two days in a row.




The kitchen is always a popular place to be at my parents home. Always something going on.


Building a campfire and playing outside is always a must as well when visiting. The grand kids love wrestling and playing night games. We had many late nights.


MJ decided to put all the blocks down her PJ's one night. She is such a goof.


Grandma was singing a song with MJ and Lil. It was too cute not to post and share.


It was great visiting my family and seeing almost everyone (missed 2 brother-in-laws). Till next time.

Ogden Temple

Last week we headed to my parents home for a week visit. On the day we left we first stopped at the temple. While RB did some family names for my sister the girls and I walked around and enjoyed the beauty of the temple. MJ loved the flowers and we had a good talk about what happens in the temple. After we went to the "ice-cream factory" as MJ calls it and ate some delicious Farr's Ice-cream. After we were full of sweet goodness we continued on our trip.






On the way there RB decided to teach MJ how to jam out to rock music. She's not very good and I'm glad. It was pretty funny watching her though.



Here is a random picture that RB said I had to blog. It is my angry face that means, I'm upset because you did something I just told you not to do (like take a picture of me).

MJ's B-Day

It is hard to believe that MJ is now FIVE. It still hasn't set in that she'll start Kindergarten this year either. We celebrated MJ's b-day on the 5th even though it is technically on the 12th. We didn't want to pack the presents to the grandparents house and back. MJ and Lil both got water toys and love them. MJ loves her Elefun game too. On her actual b-day I wished her a happy b-day and she says, "Where are my presents?" I laughed and said you already opened them. She just grinned.





My children do not understand how a slip-n-slide works. They started with walking up and down it. Then went to crawling on the knees up and down. So RB and I decided it was time for an intervention. We modeled over and over again how it was to be done. I don't think it helped.

Dinner Conversations

Tonight while eating ribs Lil had a conversation that went like this:

Lil: You dooty (dirty). No you a mess. No you dooty.

Me: Lil who are you talking too?

Lil: My hand.

RB: Is it listening?

Lil: Yea. You dooty. Yes, I am dooty. (As she wipes off her hands with a napkin.

Then while eating MJ's b-day cake:

MJ: Mom, I'm done eating the cake. It has like carrots in it or something.

Me: You don't like the carrots in it?

MJ: No, but I like the frosting.

Me: That is why they call it carrot cake, because it has carrots in it.

What funny girls!

Lil's b-day Part 2

Last night we decided to stay home and celebrate Lil's b-day instead of going and watching some fireworks. I'm glad we did because it was a great night. After our feast of hamburgers, tater tots, and corn, we let Lil open her presents.

This is how old she is now.

She LOVES her baby and new dress up slippers.

She didn't get the pool but MJ and Lil have enjoyed swimming in it every chance they get this summer. She did get this cool sprinkler ball though. You can whack it, roll it, pick it up and chase someone with it, or just run around it. It's pretty cool. I hope one day my kids will enjoy it as much as RB and I do.


We let Lil pick out her birthday cake. It was a good choice of chocolaty goodness.


After cake Lil and MJ played with toys and watched a movie while RB and I played some games while we waited for it to get dark. After it got dark we went out and set off our own fireworks. We bought two fountains and a small value pack. We decided that the fountains are far cooler than anything in the value packs. Next year we will probably get fountains and that is it. Especially if they have the buy one get one free deal again. MJ was a little scared setting off these fireworks but fearless Lil loved it all.

Lil's b-day

Lil turned 3 today! Hard to believe she is so old all ready. Here are some pics. of her growing up.

My Birthday

Another year has come and I am once again a year older. I haven't hit the big 30 yet so I feel good about that. That day started with a nice 2 mile run. I'm not as in shape as I want to be but it felt good to go that far. After RB went shopping with the girls leaving me at home with some peace and quiet. After talking to both of my sisters and getting ready for the day RB came back. He bought me a garden for in front of our house. Two years ago I tried to clear out the weeds and here are the pics. of that year. I only had six flowers to plant.




This year the weeds were just as bad and a lot taller. RB did most of the dirty work but together we dug down and got all the weeds out. We laid out the black tarp stuff that stops the weeds from growing. Then we put down some Pete moss and top soil to finish it off. RB bought me some tomatillo's, strawberries, pacifica orchid halo's, and some cooler blushes. It was fun to be outside and getting a small garden growing. I forgot to take before pics. but here are the after pics.







That evening we went to Olive Garden for dinner and then headed to a church with a big baseball diamond grass area behind it for the fireworks. I love watching fireworks and so do my girls. After playing at the park for awhile and it's getting dark my girls get in their PJ's to watch the show. My mother-in-law bakes cupcakes too for the birthday celebration. Every year the fireworks land on my b-day or Lil's.






It was a great day!
