Vacation Day 4

Here are more pictures of our log cabin that we got the next day. 

As we were in Old Nauvoo I got a pic of the Trail of Hope. 

 We started Day 4 with tours of the Joseph Smith homes. The Church of Christ owns these houses. It was amazing how many different hiding spots were in this home to hid Joseph Smith so when people came looking for him. Then he only lived in the mansion home for a short time before his death.

Next we just toured some of the Old Nauvoo homes. These are owned by the LDS church and the missionaries do the tours and explain the history. We did Wilford Woodruff's, a school house, Brigham Young's home, John Taylor's home, and the famous Brownings home who made guns. It's interesting that these homes were made of brick but none of them lived in brick homes for long. Most lived in log cabins, and then as resources became available they would make brick homes. However, by that time they were getting ready to leave west. I loved the testimonies that were shared from all of these men of their faith, and dedication to the Lord. Wilford Woodruff went on many missions even through he had a very young family. Many sacrifices were made for the Lord. 

We also stopped and played for awhile at the pioneer games park. The kids liked that. 

The last stop was the Nauvoo Temple. They rebuilt it to look like the original that caught on fire and then was destroyed in a tornado. Ms M took a nasty fall in the road and tore up her belly, but besides that we had a great time touring Nauvoo. 

I got to see lily pads too. No frogs, but lily pads. It was cool. 

Our next stop was Galena, IL for a day of rest.
